What Feature Door Most Suits Your House?

What Feature Door Most Suits Your House?

Not until very recently has it begun to feel spring-like and summery and once it did, it compelled many of us to make a dash for our back garden.

Britain has a climate like no other country, so when the sun comes out, we can’t help but get excited.

Your excitement levels should any more nice weather arise will go up a notch after integration of a feature door into your abode, placed between home and garden.

Feature door is a term used in reference to three replacement door solutions – bifolding doors, patio doors, and French doors.

They earned the label ‘feature’ as it nicely describes the visual centrepiece they create and their riveting opening styles.

If you’d like a feature door to create a spectacular gateway to the garden, read our breakdown of each offering:

Bi-Folding Doors

The bi-folding door is right up there at the top of the pile for sales volumes in the UK replacement door market and you can easily see its appeal.

Built to encompass anything from 2 to 7 panelled sections, it opens and closes in a concertina-type mode, with the capacity to open a whole room, funnelling in masses of light and enabling seamless indoor-outdoor transitions.

When the panels are stacked away to one side, there’s the most mesmerising, undisturbed view to absorb, wonderful for looking out at any idyllic landscape in the distance.

Patio Doors

A patio door has a similarly smooth movement, only it opens from side to side as opposed to inwards or outwards, like a bifold.

The result of that is you don’t lose floor space anytime you place it in an open position, a perfect solution if your home isn’t the biggest, and you can install furniture near the design without it affecting its motion.

To compensate for it not offering the expansive opening of bifolding doors, stipulate extra-large glass panels for a maximised vista.

French Doors

You have to go back to the 17th century to uncover the origin of French doors, which were ironically influenced by Italian design of the time.

Consisting of two separate but identical doors, a French door provides the option of a single or double opening, a nice luxury to have as sometimes you may just want a slight breeze floating in and on other occasions, wish to fully embrace the weather from inside.

They can open in or open out, emphasising their flexibility, and the urge to head outside will be irresistible when exploiting this.
